Social Science
Our Mission
Social Studies learning and teaching encourages integrated, active, challenging, values based and
meaningful experiences. In addition, the program recognizes the need for a significant knowledge
base leading to an appreciation of a diversity of thought and higher order thinking and inquiry.
Social studies education must prepare our young citizens for a nation and a world marked by
globalization, interdependence, human diversity and societal change through the teaching
of democratic values and traditions.
