Chicago Shakespeare Theater at Navy Pier
For six weeks, the CPS Shakespeare! ensemble turns Chicago Shakespeare Theatre studio into a learning lab. Under the guidance of a full team of professional artists and educators, they are creating their own abridged production of Shakespeare’s powerful tale of political intrigue and personal frailty as Macbeth and his Lady struggle first with their ambition, and then with its dark consequences.
Three Juarez students, Jose Uriostegui, America Ortiz, and Jessi Ramirez are part of an ensemble of 17 CPS students involved in this production of Shakespeare's Macbeth. They rehearsed for one week in August and since the middle of September they have rehearsed every Saturday, days off, and 2 times after school each week on the main stage of the Chicago Shakespeare Theatre. This professionally directed 60 minute production of Macbeth will be presented on Friday November 6 at 4:30 and Saturday morning November 7 at 10:30.
There is a bus going to see the production on Friday 11/6 after school. It leaves Juarez at 2:45 and will depart Navy Pier at 6:15. If you would like to get a free ticket and chaperon, I and they would appreciate it.
If you can attend either performance I am sure you will be surprised and impressed by your students.
